President Gustavo Petro calls for unity among the left: "I have asked my namesake Bolívar that we are not here to beat each other up."

President Gustavo Petro called presidential candidate Gustavo Bolívar , his former Senate aide and former director of Social Prosperity, to order, saying, "They shouldn't hit each other."
During a speech in Caloto, Cauca , the head of state spoke about four more years of his political project in the Casa de Nariño (Narino House) - he clarified that it is not about him - and called for unity among the left, which will elect its presidential candidate in October during the party consultations.

"There's one year left, and I hope for four more years. Four more years of the popular project in Colombia. That means becoming the majority again. Being the majority again doesn't mean killing each other. I've told my namesake Bolívar that we're not here to beat each other up. The left has been doing it since I was a baby. It's even killed itself," the head of state asserted during the inauguration of the department's integrated communications network.
Disputes in the Historic Pact prior to the consultation The Historic Pact has been mired in disputes since Gustavo Petro won the presidency. But one of the protagonists of this internal struggle has been Gustavo Bolívar, who until three years ago was one of President Petro's closest allies, but today they seem to be increasingly estranged.

In fact, Bolívar, who was the Historic Pact candidate for Mayor of Bogotá, acknowledges that the head of state does not want him to be the leftist candidate.
"What happened at the beginning of February with the complaints we made led to the departure of some, but he asked me to stay on a bit longer. But, given the polls, which give me a certain favoritism, I decided to resign so as not to disqualify myself in case I ever had to participate in the campaign. I don't know if that bothered him. He didn't tell me. I do know I'm not the type of candidate he's looking for," Bolívar asserted in an interview with this newspaper.

Furthermore, in recent weeks, Bolívar has clashed with influencers who speak in favor of the National Government and President Gustavo Petro.

"I see with concern that influencers who previously spoke well of me have now taken to speaking ill of me without me giving them any reason. But I estimate, and I believe, that there's an underlying reason there, and that is that they're promoting other candidates. I say, that's not bad," said the former director of Social Prosperity.
Likewise, Bolívar, who has already launched his campaign to participate in the Historic Pact referendum in October, where he will compete against Susana Muhamad, Carolina Corcho, and María José Pizarro , has clashed with the latter. He even went so far as to say that she is a "bad person" and that he wouldn't vote for her.

Comments like these didn't sit well with Petrismo, and it's rumored that the president's inner circle doesn't view his presidential candidacy favorably, as the leftist candidate needs to unite with other sectors, and they don't see the playwright as capable of building bridges.
